Girl Scout open house
The Girl Scout Council will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Girl Scout Center, 1200 Burlingame Road. The public is invited to visit the center. Girl Scout Cookies will be on hand for purchase also.
Anime session
The Emporia Public Library and Anime/Obsession of Emporia State University will be hosts for a Miyazaki Anime Movie Night at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the large meeting room at the library.
The movie is a 2001 film by the Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli, written and directed by animator Hayao Miyazaki, distributed by Walt Disney pictures. The movie is rated PG.
According to a news release, the film received many awards, including the second Oscar ever awarded for Best Animated Feature and the first anime film to win the Academy Award.
