The Flint Hills Technical College dental hygiene program was officially accredited by the American Dental Association on Feb. 28. Faculty for the dental hygiene program received notification that the program meets all of the standards required by the ADA and that FHTC may deliver the program.
The dental hygiene program underwent a thorough review from a Dental Accreditation visiting team on Oct. 30 and 31. The visit included a review of the facility, curriculum, administrative support and assessment processes.
FHTC will provide a dental hygiene reception for the dental community on March 13th at 6:30 p.m. to inform interested parties about the program curriculum and eligibility requirements for prospective students.
The program will start during the summer 2008 semester and 12 students will be admitted. Persons interested in applying need to have completed an ADA accredited dental assisting program with a GPA of 3.0; received the Dental Assisting National Board Certification; and completed general education courses specific for dental hygiene education.
