Good Samaritan

THERE ARE STILL Good Samaritans among us. Saturday morning, Feb. 23, we were in the parking lot of the south Country Mart.
A young man walked past our car and said, “Did you know you had a flat tire?” We did not know it and commented we’d better call the tire repair shop. He said there was no need to do that. He would help change the tire and he proceeded to do so.
What a kind thing to do for a couple of senior citizens. We really appreciated it. He refused payment. We didn’t get his name, but from us to him a great big thank-you!

The same thing happened to my wife and daughter a few years ago here in Emporia. They had a flat tire on 12th street and didn't have a clue what to do. It was nearly a 100 degrees outside. A teenaged boy, an EHS student, stopped and changed the tire. He, too, refused to take money for his kind gesture. We have some fine young people here in Emporia.
