Lawrence High girls use comeback to upset Blue Valley-Stillwell

The Lawrence High girls overcame a fourth-quarter deficit, dominating the final 8 minutes in a 59-48 upset victory over Blue Valley-Stillwell.
The seventh-seeded Lady Lions (19-4) trailed 38-35 entering the final frame before posting a 24-10 run to take control.
Danielle Bird and Haley Parker paced Lawrence with 17 points each. Cassie Potter also hit double figures with 12 points.
Brianna Eldridge led Blue Valley with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Liz Stinson contributed 11 points.
LHS was helped by good shooting, as it finished 20-for-42 from the floor (48 percent) and 6-of-11 from three-point range (55 percent).

Olathe South girls 42, Dodge City 31
Olathe South jumped out to an early lead and held on from there, taking a 42-31 victory over Dodge City.
The third-seeded Lady Falcons were helped early by their defense, holding Dodge City to five points in each of the first and second quarters to build a 23-10 halftime advantage.
Kelsey Balcom was the only player in the game with double figures (10 points), while Alyssa Rhodes was the catalyst for South with nine assists.
Kaley Temaat led Dodge City with eight points and nine rebounds.
South (20-2) advances to face Lawrence at 3 p.m. Friday at White Auditorium.

Led by Jennifer Lane’s 23 points and seven assists, the top-seeded Wichita Heights girls rolled to a 51-32 triumph over Shawnee Mission West.
Heights led 13-4 after the first quarter, and carried that defensive intensity to the second quarter, extending its advantage to 23-8 at halftime.
Shawnee Mission West made just 3 of 24 shots in the first half (13 percent).
Lane added a team-high seven rebounds, while Mary Sims also contributed 12 points.
Heather Howard paced Shawnee Mission West with 13 points.

A slow first half couldn’t stop the Goddard girls, as they used a second-half run to take a 57-48 victory over Washburn Rural.
The fourth-seeded Lady Lions trailed 24-20 at the intermission before outscoring Washburn Rural 37-24 in the second half.
Lindsey Keller nearly had half of her team’s scoring output, finishing with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting. She also added a team-high 12 rebounds.
Rural was led by Sheay Longstaff’s 10 points.
Goddard (21-2) advances to face top-seeded Wichita Heights at 6:30 p.m. Friday at White Auditorium.
