Tuesday
The annual Emporia Quail Unlimited Banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. More information: 343-3247.
The Cat in the Hat will make a special appearance at Family Night @ the Library storytime at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Sponsors encourage families to bring cameras to the event.
The High School Choral Invitational Concert will start at 7:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 823 Merchant St. General admission is $5 and students and senior citizens tickets are $4.
The Homecoming Drawing Show runs through March 28 at the Gilson Memorial Gallery at Emporia State University. The gallery opens at 9 a.m. More information: 341-5689.
Wednesday
The 6A State Basketball Tournament girls’ quarterfinals games begin at 3 p.m. in White Auditorium.
Admission is $5, or $4 for students and senior citizens, for an orchestra concert that starts at 7:30 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall at Emporia State University. More information: 341-5431.
Thursday
A fundraiser for the Learning Center Preschool will be held between 5 and 8 p.m. at Gambino’s Pizza. The preschool will receive 20 percent of proceeds of purchases when customers specify they are taking part in the fundraiser. Proceeds will be used to remodel the playground.
The final discussion of the World War II Roundtable panel will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Kanza Room at E.S.U. The roundtable is open to the public at no charge.
Friday
E.S.U. men’s and women’s tennis teams will play Newman University at the EHS tennis courts. More information: 341-1200.
E.S.U. and the University of Minnesota Duluth will face each other at the Trusler Sports Complex beginning at 1 p.m. More information: 343-1815.
The Annual Emporia Friends of the Zoo auction — the EFOZ Roundup — will begin at 6 p.m. in the Emporia Country Club. Tickets at $20 per person must be purchased in advance from any board member or at the zoo office, 75 Soden Drive. A live auction, entertainment, and hors d’oeuvres, with music by Jane McCoy, will be part of the evening’s activities. Funds are used for zoo improvements, animal purchases and educational programs. The monthly Tallgrass Pickin’ get-together will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls. The musicals are held the first Friday of each month. More information: 620-273-6020.
Performances of “Nickel and Dimed” will open at 7:30 p.m. in the Frederickson Theatre in Roosevelt Hall, E.S.U. Other performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. More information: 341-5256.
Saturday
The Kiwanis Club of Emporia will have its 60th annual Pancake Day beginning at 7 a.m. in the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The cost is $5 at the door for adults, $4 for children and no charge for children 3 and under. Advance tickets are $4 each. More information: 366-2415.
A new program, “Treasure Your Memories” will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Emporia Public Library. It is a scrapbooking and craft-making program that is open to all ages. Meetings are the second Saturday of each month. More information: 340-6468.

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland will have an open house at 2 p.m. at the Amend Girl Scout Center. More information: 342-4532.
U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band will perform in a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in Albert Taylor Hall, E.S.U. The concert is free and open to the public. Tickets are needed for admittance, and can be picked up at The Emporia Gazette office, 517 Merchant St. More information: 341-5431.
