Lexi Hileman hit a free throw to tie the game to send it into overtime and then hit the game-winning free throw with less than 30 seconds left in the extra period, as the Emporia High Lady Spartans took a 53-52 overtime victory over Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Saturday to win their Sub-State and advance to next week's Class 5A State Tournament in Topeka.
The Northern Heights boys and girls each won their Sub-State championship games, sending both teams to next week's Class 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson. The Heights girls defeated Jayhawk-Linn, 45-35. The Heights boys defeated Erie, 82-64.
