Summer Food Program

The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:

BREAKFAST

Monday: cereal bar.

Tuesday: s’more turnover.

Wednesday: cinnamon toast crunch.

Thursday: pancake pods.

Friday: Fourth of July, no meals served.

LUNCH

Monday: mini corn dogs, Spartan fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.

Tuesday: pizza, tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.

Wednesday: crispitos, nacho chips with cheese sauce, tossed salad, strawberries.

Thursday: grilled cheese sandwich, tater tots, baby carrots and dip, pineapple .

Friday: Fourth of July, no meals served.

Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.

Friendship Meals

Emporia

Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.

Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.

These meals will be served next week.

Monday: pork roast, candied sweet potatoes, peas, wheat roll, peaches and cherries.

Tuesday: scalloped chicken, carrots, Mediterranean vegetables, muffin, pineapple pudding.

Wednesday: hamburger on a bun, potato salad, sliced tomato, fruited gelatin.

Thursday: pasta bake, winter-blend vegetables, cherries, Texas toast, cheesecake.

Friday: Fourth of July, no meals served.

North Lyon County

Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.

Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.

These meals will be served next week.

Monday: meatloaf, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, fresh fruit cup.

Tuesday: roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, bread, cinnamon apples.

Wednesday: chicken and rice casserole, lettuce salad, wheat roll, five-cup salad.

Thursday: barbecue ribettes, bun, pasta-vegetable salad, pickles, fluffy fruit salad.

Friday: Fourth of July, no meals served.
