University of Nebraska infielder Abby Hughes has decided to transfer to play for the Emporia State softball team, according to the Olathe Daily News.
Hughes, who originally chose Nebraska over Emporia State out of high school, is a graduate of Olathe North.
Last year, the freshman Hughes played in 35 games for the Cornhuskers, batting .176 with five stolen bases while mostly serving as a pinch runner.
In high school, Hughes led the Sunflower League with a .552 average and an .879 slugging percentage. She also earned first-team All-State honors her senior year from the Kansas Softball Coaches Association.
A versatile defender, Hughes can play second base, shortstop, third base or in the outfield.
