3-day extravaganza planned at Lebo

The City of Lebo is preparing for its 19th annual “Stars and Stripes Extravaganza” beginning July 4th, and continuing through Sunday.

The junior class will have a refreshment wagon in different locations each of the three days. It will be downtown in the morning and at the west park in the evening on Friday, at West Broadway during the day and downtown on Saturday evening, and at the truck and tractor pull on Sunday.

The line-up of activities includes:

Friday

• 7 to 9 a.m., fishing derby, 15 years old and under, city pond.

• 9 to 10:30, Best Oatmeal Cookie Contest, senior center, (bring 3 of any type of oatmeal cookie).

• 9:00, baby contest, city library, zero to 6 months, 7 to 12 months.

• 9:30, dog contest, downtown.

• 11 a.m., parade.

• noon, Lions Club hamburger and hot-dog feed and freshman class ice cream social, Lebo High School commons area.

• 4:30 p.m., senior class barbecue, commons area.

• 6:00, hay bale contest, treasure hunt, hole-in-one contest, archery and air rifle, kids’ games, pony rides.

• 8:30, awards.

• after dark, Rainbow Fireworks show.

Saturday

• 7 a.m., Boy Scout Fun Run at West Park; registration, 6:30 a.m., $12 fee.

• 8 to 10:30, sophomore class pancake feed, commons area.

• 8:00, farmers’ market and bake sale, downtown.

• 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Bob Ellis Memorial Tractor Show, West Broadway.

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., transportation show, West Broadway, and arts and crafts show, senior center.

• 1 to 3 p.m., Hot Wheels contest, West Broadway, children and adults.

• 1 p.m., horseshoes, west of Heidi Inn.

• 1 to 5 p.m., free swim.

• 6 p.m., dodgeball, Blue Ribbon 4-H Club sponsoring; bingo, American Legion, sophomore class sponsoring, cake walk, freshmen class; dunk tank, senior class; kids’ games.

Sunday

• 1 p.m. Bob Ellis Memorial Antique Tractor Pull, east of football field; also, Flint Hills Truck Pullers Association, truck and tractor pull.
