The Emporia Blue Squad split a doubleheader at Junction City on Wednesday, losing the first game, 6-4, before winning the second, 11-2.
Emporia was haunted by miscues in Game One, as all of Junction City’s runs were unearned.
“We out-hit them, we out-pitched them, but we also out-errored them,” Emporia coach Dick Evans said. “We did some things that you wouldn’t expect from our team.”
Ethan Hall contributed a two-run home run for the Blue squad, but it wasn’t enough.
Adam Ewy started on the mound, while Brett Lechien came on in relief.
Emporia rebounded in Game Two to take an 11-2 run-rule victory.
Jacob Loucks picked up the win, allowing his only two runs in the fifth and final inning.
Remington Pinick and Lechien both added a pair of hits.
Emporia committed no errors in Game Two.
The Blue squad has changed its schedule for this weekend. It still will play Burlington at home on Saturday, but Sunday’s scheduled home game against Lansing has been moved to Lansing.
Also, Emporia’s game at Lansing on July 13 will now be moved to Emporia.
