Blue squad finishes 8th in Bartlesville tournament

The Emporia A-16 Blue team had the odds stacked against it before taking the field at the Bartlesville (Okla.) Tournament this past weekend.
Emporia coach Dick Evans thought his team was entering an ‘A’ Classification tournament, when in fact it had signed up for a ‘AA’ classification, meaning every other team at the tourney was older than the Blue squad.
Though Evans was happy with his team’s fight, the Blue squad lost 8-6 on Saturday to Skiatook (Okla.) and 13-5 to Enid on Sunday to finish in eighth place.
