Summer Food Program
The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:
BREAKFAST
Monday: cereal.
Tuesday: muffin.
Wednesday: breakfast pizza.
Thursday: Simply Chex.
Friday: pancake on a stick.
LUNCH
Monday: hot dog on a bun, Spartan fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday: bosco sticks, tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.
Wednesday: country-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, corn, peach half.
Thursday: burrito, nacho chips with cheese sauce, tossed salad, strawberries.
Friday: chicken patty on a bun, tater tots, baby carrots and dip, pineapple.
Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.
Friendship Meals
Emporia
Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.
Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: Swiss steak, scalloped potatoes, summer vegetable blend, roll, fruit cocktail.
Tuesday: beef tips on rice, spinach salad, wheat roll, apricots.
Wednesday: chicken Alfredo, lasagna roll-up, Caribbean-blend vegetables, bread sticks, apple-cranberry crisp.
Thursday: pulled pork, bun, macaroni salad, broccoli salad, fruit yogurt.
Friday: chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, pineapple and mangoes.
North Lyon County
Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.
Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: baked fish, parslied potatoes, broccoli, bread, peaches.
Tuesday: hamburger on a bun, baked beans, pea and cheese salad, melon cup.
Wednesday: oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, marinated vegetable salad, bread, gelatin with fruit.
Thursday: roast pork, baked potato, Harvard beets, wheat roll, fruit and marshmallow creme.
Friday: chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, wheat bread, frozen fruit dessert.
