Two area rodeo contestants earned a trip to the National High School Rodeo Finals after competing in the Kansas High School Rodeo State Finals on June 9-11.
Caesie Reynolds and Cheyenne Veatch eached punched their ticket to the national event, which will be held July 20-26 in Farmington, N.M.
Reynolds will compete in the contest to become the next High School Rodeo Queen, while Veatch will compete in the barrel racing competition.
Reynolds won the State Rodeo Queen title after taking part in a reining competition along with interviews and a test on the rules and knowledge of rodeo. Reynolds won the title of State Rodeo Queen over another area contestant, Caroline Murray.
As for Veatch, she will make the trip to New Mexico after finishing fourth in the barrell racing competition. The top four finishers in each event qualify for the national event.
There were several other area contestants competing in the finals. They were: Angela Bartley, Taylor Hollond, Jessica Miller, Chelsea Wilson, Jake Miller, Cody Saving, Skylar Hively, Connor Grokett, Linden Stueve, Garret Benjamin and Ethan Wessel.
