Summer Food Program
The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:
BREAKFAST
Monday: cereal bar.
Tuesday: s’more turnover.
Wednesday: breakfast burrito.
Thursday: cinnamon toast crunch crisps.
Friday: pancake pod.
LUNCH
Monday: mini corn dogs, Spartan fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday: pizza, tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.
Wednesday: turkey fritter, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, corn, peach half.
Thursday: crispitos, nacho chips with cheese sauce, tossed salad, strawberries.
Friday: grilled cheese sandwich, tater tots, baby carrots and dip, pineapple.
Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.
Friendship Meals
Emporia
Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.
Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, roll, orange.
Tuesday: fish, macaroni and tomatoes, vegetable blend, wheat bread, pineapple tidbits.
Wednesday: chicken-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, wheat roll, cake and ice cream.
Thursday: chicken salad, broccoli-cheese soup, bun, pistachio pudding.
Friday: soft taco with cheese, black bean salad, lettuce, flour tortilla, lime gelatin.
North Lyon County
Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.
Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: ground beef Stroganoff, noodles, California-blend vegetables, bread, fruit cocktail, sherbet.
Tuesday: ham loaf, potato wedges, lettuce with tomato, wheat roll, baked apple.
Wednesday: roast beef, boiled potatoes, carrots, wheat roll, four-fruit compote.
Thursday: chicken and noodles, cucumber-tomato salad, wheat bread, blushing applesauce, custard.
Friday: barbecue ribette on a bun, potato salad, sliced tomatoes, fruited pudding.
