A pancake feed is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the old Dunlap school gymnasium to raise funds for a Dunlap couple who lost all of their belongings in a house fire this spring.
The feed is sponsored by the Dunlap Fire Department and the Dunlap Brotherhood to benefit the family of Dusty and Shelley Miller.
The Millers had almost completed restoring their 130-year-old, two-story farm house before it burned down this spring, according to Karen Allen, who is helping with the fundraiser.
The meal will include sausage and beverages, with unlimited pancakes. Additional sausage will be available at added cost. Donations will be accepted for the meal, with suggested minimums at $5 each for adults and $2.50 each for children.
Participants also will be able to tour the gymnasium, which now is owned by the fire department and is being restored under the direction of Fire Chief Richard Allen and the Brotherhood. The gym was built in 1939 as a government project and at the time was one of the best gymnasiums in the region, Allen said.
