Midnight swim

The Americus Pool in Americus will have a midnight swim this Friday from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Admission will be $5. Swimmers must be 12 years and older. Swimmers must pay admission to re-enter the pool that day.

The concession stand will be open from 9:30 to 11 p.m. For more information contact the pool during regular business hours from 1 to 5 p.m. at (620) 443-5450.

CPR classes

The Lyon County Red Cross, as part of its summer safety program, will offer two adult and child CPR sessions Saturday. The half-day sessions begin at 9 a.m. and 1p.m. at the Red Cross office, 904 E. Sixth Ave. Pre-registration is required.

A fee will be charged. For more information or to register, call Liliana Heredia-Taylor at 342-4211.

Open house

The Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Kansas will celebrate its 20th anniversary with an open house from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Topeka house, 825 SW Buchanan. Tours of the house and refreshments will be provided. The host will be the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Described in the news release as a “house that love built,” the House serves as a “home-away-from-home” for families of children and young adults receiving medical care in Topeka. The House, once the home of Georgia Neese Gray, the first woman treasurer of the U.S., is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
