State honors Area businesses

Area businesses were honored Monday by the Kansas Department of Commerce during the annual regional Business Appreciation Month awards ceremony in Salina.
Emporia’s Fanestil Meats earned a business excellence award in the manufacturing-distribution category, and Madelynn’s won the same award in the retail category. Amanda’s Bakery & Cafe earned a merit award in the service category.
Also recognized in the manufacturing-distribution category were CT Systems of Cottonwood Falls with a business achievement award and Monarch Molding of Council Grove with a merit award.
In the service category, Kansas Graphics of Cottonwood Falls received a merit award. And in the retail category, Cottonwood Falls’ Grand Central Hotel earned a business achievement award.
