Madison is planning a weekend of entertainment

MADISON — It’s that time again — time to head to Madison for some big fun in a small town for Madison Days.

This year there is no shortage of things for people of all ages to do, from food and swimming to tons of activities for all. The celebration starts Friday and continues through Sunday.

Friday

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Free Coke and hot dogs

• 1 p.m., Free swim at City Park

• 1 to 5 p.m., Library-Madison High School student art exhibit

• 4-8 p.m., Madison Depot open with exhibits and activities

• 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., Black Tuxedos (young instrumental group)

• 6 p.m., Madison Days hamburger feed

Saturday

• 7 a.m., Breakfast, First Christian Church

• 8 a.m., Verdigris Valley River Run Registration at the Depot, Madison Days Registration at the Senior Center

• 9 a.m., Sauder Center activities start. Activities for all ages.

• 9 a.m., Cookie bake contest, Sauder Center

• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Emporia Arts Council Artmobile in front of Buckeye

• 9 a.m., Button drawing

• 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Depot opens “Celebrate America in 2008,” metal and stained glass exhibit.

• 9:30 a.m., 3-on-3 hoopfest registration at the basketball court in the City Park

• 10 a.m., Button drawing winners announced and posted; Verdigris Valley Bike Race starts;

• 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Toy train rides

• 10:30 a.m., Scavenger Hunt, Third and Main

• 11 a.m., Boy Scout dunk tank downtown

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lunch Methodist Church and Lions Club

• 11 a.m., Cookie walk, Third and Main

• 1 p.m., hula hoop contest

• 1 to 2 p.m., kids Olympics, City Park

• 2 to 7 p.m., inflatables, Third and Main

• 2:15 p.m., Parade line-up at Emch Elevator

• 3 p.m., Parade

• 4 p.m., Final button drawing

• 4:30 p.m., 1870 Murder Site near Madison survey at First Christian Church

• 5 p.m., Country Stampede Boot Race, start at Second and Main

• 6 p.m., Madison Days pig roast

• 7 p.m., Alumni Banquet, high school gym

• 7 to 9 p.m., Entertainment, Clearview Band

Sunday

• 9 a.m., Golf Tournament

• 12 to 4 p.m., Madison Depot Museum open
