Stolen pots

To the person or persons who took the flower pots from the graves: I just wanted to let you know I appreciate that you noticed my pots of flowers on the graves in Chicago Mound Cemetery. I am flattered that you thought they were pretty enough to steal.

I thought you might like to know that there was a lot of time and effort put forth into making those special arrangements for Memorial Day. You see, those pots were placed on the graves of people who were special to many of us.

I feel sorry for you because the notes on the sides of the pots will always be a reminder of what you have done. Maybe if you had asked me, I could have made some for the graves of your loved ones, too. I do thank you for at least leaving the special ornamental objects that were in those arrangements. Those items were meant to say something about each person who has died.

Also, I want to let you know these pots were a special purchase (must be why you took them) and were also planned to be used for a special upcoming event. If you decide to do the right thing, please return the pots to the graves in the cemetery and I will come and get them with no hard feelings. Otherwise, I do hope you enjoy them and take care of them as if they were your own.

I think this story is so sad.We place flowers and momentoes on the resting places of our loved ones.We visit and clean the grave. We sit and talk to those we can no longer hug.We place headstones to tell others that someone we cherished, someone who mattered immensely to us is resting below. Please return the pots!

I think it is crap that people steal off of gravesites. My family has had some stuff stolen from the Waverly cemetary and my boss has had two different things that were sentimental value, that no one could know what they meant, stolen. To all you gravesite theives, it is disgusting and so wrong. Maybe when you pass no one will put anything on yours because you stole from others so you do not deserve anything.
