Market demonstration

Theater camp

Wednesday is the registration deadline for the Summer Theatre Camp offered July 21 through 25. The camp for children 8 to 12 years old will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 20. The camp is sponsored by the Emporia Arts Council and Emporia Recreation Center.

Lunch and transportation will be provided each day. There will be rehearsals during the morning at the EAC and afternoons of recreational activities at the ERC. A final performance will be given at the end of the week at the Arts Council. For more information, call 340-6300 or 343-6473.

Tech College classes

Flint Hills Technical College, 3301 W. 18th Ave., offers these classes for community members this week:

• Cooking: How to Make Tamales from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at FHTC with instructor Regina Murphy; $14. Participants will “learn how to make the perfect tamale batter, with and without lard, and the best techniques for rolling them up in dried corn husks,” said the news release. “Enjoy the fruits of your labor when you take them home to steam!” The supply fee is required; contact instructor before the class for details. • Beginning Digital Imaging: From the Computer to the World from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with instructor Michael Bird, $47. In this class, students will learn different methods for printing and e-mailing photos, as well as how to get your photos on the web. The student also will learn which type of printer and printer paper is the best for him or her and how to get the best quality images printed. Class materials: Bring a digital camera (if you have one) and any cable that might go with it, the memory card and/or print photos to be scanned.
