The Eureka Herald reported that Eureka Downs is running on a shorter season this year due to a decline in attendance. Races will be held at 1:30 p.m. on race days. Doors will open at 12:45 p.m. Upcoming races will be on June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28 and July 4. Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that Coffey County Sheriff Randy Rogers has filed for re-election for Coffey County Sheriff. He filed a petition on May 12. A Republican, Rogers is serving his third term as sheriff in Coffey County.
Coffey County Clerk Angie Kirchner is seeking re-election to her second term. She filed as a Republican by submitting a petition on Feb. 14.
Cottonwood Falls
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the 10th Annual Flint Hills Folklife Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15 at the âTâ at Swope Park in Cottonwood Falls. Activities will include basket making, soap making, leather works, a spinner, hand carving, natural herbs, homemade root beer, rope making, butter churning, kettle corn, pottery making, weaving, calligraphy, Abraham Lincoln and live music. There is no admission charge for the event.
