Summer Food Program
The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:
BREAKFAST
Monday: cereal.
Tuesday: muffin.
Wednesday: breakfast pizza.
Thursday: simply chex.
Friday: pancake on a stick.
LUNCH
Monday: hot dog, bun, seasoned fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday: bosco sticks, tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.
Wednesday: country-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, corn, peach half.
Thursday: burrito, nacho chips with cheese sauce, tossed salad, strawberries.
Friday: chicken patty on a bun, tater tots, baby carrots and dip, pineapple.
Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.
Friendship Meals
Emporia
Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.
Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, Scandanavian vegetables, roll, pears.
Tuesday: Mr. Rib, bun, baked beans, cantaloupe, brownie.
Wednesday: oven-fried chicken leg, Kansas corn, broccoli, yeasty roll, pineapple upside-down cake.
Thursday: pepper and onion steak, baby bakers, fiesta vegetables, wheat roll, apricots.
Friday: stuffed potato with chicken and cheese sauce, mixed vegetables, wheat bread, plums.
North Lyon County
Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.
Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: porcupine meatballs, potatoes, winter-mix vegetables, bread, cantaloupe.
Tuesday: salmon patty, gravy, wild rice, coleslaw, bread, pear-cheese salad.
Wednesday: Swiss steak with tomatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn with green pepper, wheat roll, Waldorf salad.
Thursday: chicken Alfredo, noodles, peas and pearl onions, wheat roll, fruit cobbler.
Friday: meat salad sandwich, salad with cucumber and onion, pickles, five-cup salad.
