ESU Theatre’s 54th season of summer theatre Wednesday begins with “Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein.” The show, with curtain at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through June 14, will be performed in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre in King Hall. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets can be reserved at the box office at 341-6378 or toll-free at 877-341-6378.
“Some Enchanted Evening” is a revue of songs by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on a concept by Jeffrey B. Moss, it features popular songs from “Oklahoma,” “South Pacific,” “Cinderella,” “State Fair,” “The Sound of Music” and many more performed by five talented theatre and music students. It’s entertainment for the entire family.
The cast includes senior Tricia Stogsdill from Pleasanton, junior music major Amanda Mayer of Hutchinson, Wichita sophomore Emily Warren, Mulvane sophomore Chris Wilson and 2008 graduate Eric Luchen from Overland Park.
Directing the show is Theresa Mitchell, with Penny Speedie as music director. Lindy Bartruff is the choreographer for the show. ESU alumnus Kyle Land is lighting designer, and designing the set and costumes is guest artist Rick Rasmussen of Seattle. Sue Seeman and Emilia Chiroy will play the twin piano score. The stage manager is senior Katie Schultz from Hesston.
