Art in the Garden

This event will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Toad Hollow Iris and Daylily Farm, 1534 Road 170. The farm is four miles east of Emporia on Interstate Highway 35 to Exit 135 and following the signs.

Admission is free. Food and refreshments will be sold, with proceeds used to benefit programs at Camp Wood. Donations also will be accepted for the camp.

A silent auction is planned to benefit the ESU Art Department.

Photo exhibit

The 29th Annual Emporia Camera Club Print Show opens from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Shepherd Rotunda in the north end of Beach Music Hall on the ESU campus at 12th Avenue and Market Street. Refreshments will be served. The exhibition is an adjudicated show and featues 92 photographs taken by 26 different area photographers who are members of the Emporia Camera Club. Images vary from subjects of local interest to those from around the world. Monroe Trester of Buffalo, Kan., a former professional photographer, will judge this exhibition. He will select one photograph deemed “Best of Show,” ten photographs to be awarded “Top Ten” medals and ten photographs awarded “Honorable Mention” ribbons. After the Sunday opening, the exhibition will be on display in the Shepherd Rotunda until July 17.

Museum event

The June “Night at the Museum” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lyon County Museum. Steve Brosemer will discuss the original government surveys of Lyon County and the county surveyors of Lyon County. He will have copies of original maps and diagrams showing some of the historical settlements and features of Lyon County in the Territorial days of Kansas.
