The Emporia Legion AAs only got in half of a doubleheader against Andover on Tuesday night, but the AAs made the most of it, as Emporia defeated Andover, 3-1, in the first game before the second game was called because of weather.
Brett Lechien led the way for the AAs, scoring two runs, which gave starting pitcher Jacob Loucks all the run support he would need to pick up the victory.
The AAs are back in action on Thursday when Emporia plays host to Newton in a doubleheader at Soden’s Grove.
As for the Emporia AAAs, they suffered a 13-7 loss to the Wichita Red on Tuesday night in Wichita.
Derek Krause paced the Emporia offense with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate.
The AAAs open play on Friday in the Sam Ellis Showcase Classic at Soden’s Grove with a 2:30 p.m. matchup against the Buhler Cyclones. Emporia plays again at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Lawrence Raiders before bracket play begins on Saturday.
