Summer full of music, fun

Summer is here and with summer in Emporia comes two familiar and popular events — Brown Bag concerts and Live in the Lot.
Brown Bags are held at noon on Wednesdays in the Emporia Public Library Courtyard. Wheat State pizza and beverages will be available for purchase. The event has a new feature this year, “Create an Art Project With the Emporia Arts Council.”
The first concert will be Wednesday and will include The Bubbleman, Ron Tibbetts.
Other concerts include:
• June 11: The Usual Suspects, a local band playing music of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
• June 18: Sweetwater, a Christian pop band.
• June 25: Brian Wendling — juggling and humor.
• July 2: Patriotic Pride — Shows on the Go, trio, Cynthia Ziesman.
• July 9: Sock Hop Smiles with Dennis Porter and Happy Faces Entertainment.
• July 16: Musical Showcase featuring students of Jane McCoy.
• July 23: Dan Dan the Magic Man (Dan Heath).
• July 30: America’s Got Talent — 12 local people will compete for prizes.
Live in the Lot, sponsored by Flint Hills Music, is a concert series held at 7:30 Wednesday evening in the parking lot of Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street.
The first concert is Wednesday and will feature the Dewayn Brothers and, at 8:30 p.m., the movie “School of Rock.”

• June 11: 7:30 p.m., Altered to Offer; 8:30 p.m., Co-Dependents.
• June 18: 7:30 p.m., Radio City, 8:30 p.m., Movie, “Racing Stripes.”
• June 25: 7:30 p.m., Baby Driver & Sean Richey, 8:30 p.m., The High Life.
• July 9: 7:30 p.m., Black Tuxedos, 8:30 p.m., Movie, “Yours, Mine & Ours.”
• July 16: 7:30 p.m., The Dead Idols, 8:30 p.m., Potrait of Malice.
• July 23: 7:30 p.m., Running on Empty, 8:30 p.m., Movie “Happy Feet.”
• July 30: 7:30 p.m., Holding Lines, 8:30 p.m., The Tallgrass 7.
