After the Emporia A’s American Legion squad got its season started on Friday, the other two Legion teams began their summer seasons over the weekend.
The Emporia AAAs opened play in the Pittsburg Tournament, going 1-2 before the tournament was ended because of weather.
The AAAs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Carthage (Mo.) on Friday and then lost 4-0 to Joplin (Mo.) in the first game of Saturday play before ending their weekend with a 6-4 victory over Fort Scott.
As for the Emporia AAs, they played a pair of road doubleheaders, the first at Salina on Saturday and the second at Manhattan against Manhattan Manko on Sunday.
Emporia split with Salina, taking a 2-0 victory in Game One before falling, 7-5, in the second game. Manhattan Manko swept the AAs on Sunday, taking 8-0 and 12-7 victories.
