Carol Strickland, a Democrat from rural Emporia, has filed for the 76th District seat in the Kansas Legislature. The seat currently is held by Republican Peggy Mast.
The district includes rural Lyon County, Precincts 3 and 13 in Emporia, northern Greenwood County, and a large portion of Coffey County.
Strickland, formerly a teacher at Emporia High School, retired from full-time teaching in 2006, after 39 years in the classroom. She teaches part-time at Emporia State University and volunteers at the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
See The Gazette on Tuesday for a more complete story on Strickland's candidacy.

Carol is a nice lady. However, Peggy Mast has worked tirelessly for her District, and we will be better off if Peggy gets another term.

If you like the way Don and Jim vote to spend money you will like Carol too

Yes Jayhawker, we certainly need Peggy to put in all her time opposing HipHop Rockers and gangsta rap rather than important issues. LOL And what a nice compliment admireed comparing Carol to Don and Jim. I'm guessing she would be pleased by that comment. :)

I'd like to see Peggy Mast do another term so she can continue her work of looking into The Farm and DCCCA like she said she would.
