The Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival is a 4-day foot-stomping party in the heart of the Midwest. Born in 2004, Wakarusa burst onto the scene with a diverse and eclectic lineup featuring over 70 artists. The 2004 and 2005 bills perked the interest of both devout and casual music fans alike. Fans that made the trip to Wakarusa left with unforgettable stories of the music and the beautiful surroundings. In 2006, Wakarusa returned and quickly established itself as a premiere, grassroots event in the nationwide outdoor music scene. Attracting folks from all 50 U.S. States and 5 countries, the 2006 event featured over 100 artists, 7 stages and over 4 days of non-stop music and entertainment. The 2007 event again featured over 100s and drew attendees from all 50 U.S. States and several countries. 2008 will mark the 5th Anniversary of Wakarusa and the festival organizers have several surprises planned to mark the occasion.

The time is finally here! We are just a few days away from Wakarusa 2008 and we hope you are just as excited as we are about this year's lineup. Tickets are selling quickly so don't get shut out of the fun and purchase your tickets now . Here are just a couple more things we wanted to make you aware of before coming to the festival.
CONSCIOUS ALLIANCE FOOD DRIVE:
Wakarusa and Conscious Alliance will be conducting our 4th Annual Food Drive to benefit the Ballard Center of Lawrence, KS. By contributing ten food items at the gate you will receive ten dollars off the purchase of a ticket . You can also stop by the Conscious Alliance tent inside the festival grounds to trade in another ten food items for a limited edition Wakarusa poster by Table2Press. Last year's drive brought in nearly 3,000 pounds of food donations. This year with your help, we hope to pull in at least 5,000 pounds! RAMEN NOODLES will NOT be accepted.
WIRELESS INTERNET WITH SUNFLOWER BROADBAND:
Sunflower Broadband will once again be providing wireless internet services throughout the festival grounds. Look for hot spots at various locations around the festival.
RECYCALUSA AND YOU!
Recycalusa, the recycling program for Wakarusa, strives to reduce the environmental impact left by the festival as much as possible. You can help us with this mission by taking a couple of simple steps.
Before coming to Wakarusa:
-Pack reusable camping gear (such as sturdy coolers, freely refillable water canteens, and re-usable tableware and cutlery).
-Don't forget an ashtray for your campsite, or a good ol' tin can will do the job.
NO BUTTS ABOUT IT!
When arriving at Wakarusa:
-You'll be given two large plastic bags: clear for trash and green or grey for recycling. Get more bags from the "Recycling Drop," any information booth, or ask a St. Bernard's cart. They also have no charge pocket ashtrays!
While enjoying Wakarusa:
-When throwing away trash please make use of the color coded barrel covers. Recycling is a no brainer when you put aluminium in red, plastic in blue, and glass in yellow!
-Fill up a green recycling bag and take it to the "Recycling Drop" on 2nd Street and Wakarusa Way. We'll have lots of complimentary stuff and cool prizes for you to walk away with. Visit http://wakarusa.com/2008/activities.asp for more information
-At the end of your stay, be a good steward and leave your campsite cleaner than you found it. Neatly tie your trash and recycling bags and place them on the closest blacktop street for curbside pick-up.
