Two new obstetricians coming to Emporia

Emporia will add two new specialists at the Medical Arts Clinic community next month. Christina Faulkner and Trish Miller-Wood will be offering obstetric and gynecology services starting in August.

Faulkner is a native of the Emporia area and received her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2004. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Missouri in 2008. She also graduated from Northern Heights High School.

Miller-Wood also is a native of Emporia and received her doctor of osteopathy degree at Des Moines University in 2004. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Missouri in 2008. She graduated from Emporia State University and worked as a nurse at health facilities in the area including Newman Regional Health.

Good! Maybe these two doctors will actually stay rather than evaporate as soon as their student loans are paid off by the government for working in a "rural area." I gave up on the local doctors after the Ciottis left. Maybe Newman can get a decent director too so people will be willing to use the Emporia hospital again. I refuse to go there and know quite a few people who feel the same way.
