SOS, Casa get $78,000 in grants from state

Local agencies are sharing in $2.25 million in grant awards for crime victims’ services and programs across Kansas.
The grants, which are distributed by the Kansas Office of Attorney General’s Victim Services Division, were awarded to agencies across Kansas including local agencies SOS and SOS CASA of the Flint Hills, which received a total of $78,000.
“I commend all the programs receiving grants this year for their hard work and commitment to Kansas crime victims,” said Attorney General Steve Six.
In a press release, Six called for funds awarded to be used effectively for victim services. The Victim Services Division will offer workshops on financial management, business practices and procedures, grant writing and victim-centered services. The staff also will make site visits to ensure service quality as well as technical assistance visits.
Grants awarded in the Emporia area:
F State Child Exchange and Visitation Centers Fund: SOS — 2009 amount, $31,250 for SOS Child Visitation and Exchange Center serving Lyon and Osage Counties.
F State Protection from Abuse Fund: SOS — $33,000 for domestic violence, $2,500 for sexual assault for SOS Community Awareness and Education for Lyon, Chase, Morris, Greenwood, Osage and Coffey Counties.
F State Crime Victims’ Assistance Fund for Child Abuse and Neglect Grant Award: SOS — $11,250 for SOS CASA of the Flint Hills for Lyon and Chase County.
