The folks at Emporia State University’s Center for Early Childhood Education are bringing the Olympics to Emporia. The children at the center are participating in their own version of the international sports competition. Along the way, they are learning the Olympic virtues.
In the opening ceremony Monday on campus, Brianna Dougherty, right, holds Olympic torches with paper flames. Brianna is 9.
Below, Bailey Mattix, 6, signs an Olympic oath.
The children are members of Collene Stucky’s summer class for school-age children. The project will last through next week, with one event each day.
