The Flint Hills Technical College Foundation has announced the establishment of the Clint Bowyer Automotive Scholarship.
A news release from the college said Bowyer, a professional NASCAR driver from Emporia, has made it a priority to give back to the community that has supported him through the years.
One $4,000 scholarship is available annually to a graduate of Emporia High School enrolling as a first year post-secondary student in the Automotive Technology Program at the college. The scholarship is renewable for the completion of an associate degree contingent on the successful completion of a technical certificate.
Students must also meet minimum GPA and financial-need requirements and complete the admission and scholarship application process. The scholarship is administered through Bowyer’s fund with the Emporia Community Foundation.
“We are very excited to offer this scholarship opportunity and appreciate the fact that Mr. Bowyer has made a commitment to education at Flint Hills Technical College.” said Jodi Heermann, executive director of advancement at the college. “For students interested in a career in the automotive technology industry, this scholarship could open many doors for them.”
Final enrollment is set for Monday and classes for the fall semester begin Aug. 8. Enrollment is still open for the fall semester.
