A big thumbs up to Summer S’Cape, sponsored by the Emporia Recreation Commission.
My daughter attended the program at Timmerman this summer. The Rec Center allowed her to go only three days a week, and were very flexible with me when I’d call to rearrange my daughter’s schedule (on a weekly basis, it seemed).
The camp leaders at Timmerman, led by Mike Perez, were all very friendly and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Every day was a different outing, rotating the Aquatic Center with the movies, bowling or roller skating.
The Arts Council did art with the kids weekly, and the rest of the time was spent playing or enjoying a wide variety of games without TV or video games.
Thank you to the Emporia Recreation Commission for providing my child a safe, healthy day camp for the summer.
