Accident trial set
The involuntary manslaughter trial for Bruce C. Vanderman of Madison will begin on Nov. 12 in Lyon County District Court. The date was set at a court hearing Thursday.
Vanderman was the driver of a southbound 2003 GMC pickup truck that struck a northbound 1990 GMC pickup driven by Jerry L. Williams, 52, of Emporia. Williams died of injuries received in the accident.
Bruce Vanderman was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment and Joshua Vanderman, 11, of Madison, a passenger in the Vanderman pickup, received treatment for injuries at Newman Regional Health.
A Kansas Highway Patrol report stated that dusty road conditions limited visibility and contributed to the cause of the accident.
WEATHER
