Poker run will benefit hospitals

Proceeds from a 135-mile poker run on Saturday will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Registration will begin at noon in the north parking lot of Emporia State University, just off Merchant Street. There will be signs by the Wildlife and Parks building. The last motorcycle should be on the road by 1 p.m. The ride will end with the last bike arriving at the final stop no later than 4 p.m.
The scenic ride includes stops at the Casey’s General Stores in Osage City, Burlington and Madison before ending at Bruff’s Bar & Grill in Emporia for food, prizes and festivities, organizers said.
This event is open to the public. Entry is only $10 per hand or 3 for $25. For those who cannot participate in the ride, hands will be available at Bruff’s beginning at 3 p.m.
Prizes include a $1,000 award for the best hand, with $300 for second place and $300 for the worst hand. There will be drawings for door prizes beginning at 4 p.m. and ending with the grand prize awards at 5 p.m.
