Mariesa L. Bond, 48, of Emporia was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment of injuries received in an accident about 3:30 p.m. in northeast Lyon County.
A Kansas Highway Patrol report stated that Bond was a passenger in a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Jonathan T. Fernandez, 16, also of Emporia. Fernandez was not injured. He was not wearing a safety restraint.
The report said that Fernandez was driving south on Road Z, about 1.6 miles north of Old Highway 50 and 4.5 miles south of Reading.
Fernandez apparently lost control of the vehicle on the gravel. The car flipped and came to rest in a field, the KHP report stated.
Bond, who was treated and released from the hospital, was wearing a safety restraint.
