T’ain’t funny

I’m sorry that Patrick S. Kelley doesn’t find the recent cover of the The New Yorker depicting Obama and his wife more offensive. Yes, it is an attempt at satire but the only people that seem to be laughing are the ones who recognize “the politics of fear” as their own.
It is disrespectful not only to the Illinois Senator but also to the American people, not because of any ignorance, but because they are tired of this type of demeaning slander. The last time I checked, Osama Bin Laden was responsible for killing thousands of people and the American flag belonged somewhere other than in a fire. The artist of this “cartoon” was probably trying to get at the fact that a lot of people may be swayed through unjust fears. In doing so, however, he succeeded in amplifying those fears.
Regardless of someone’s IQ, a lot of information is absorbed through images, and the information that is depicted in this image is not only completely false, it is also most definitely a low blow. Why would Obama laugh this one off?
Give me a break. I think I, too, will find my humor elsewhere.

Terra: Lighten up, it was satire. The editor of the publication upon which this image appeared as its cover clearly states that he and the magazine are Obama supporters. It's Obama supporters, like yourself, who did this. Satire is intended to make a point, often in an acidic way. I support McCain, and I, like the magazine editor, thought that it was funny. I'm not practicing the "politics of fear", I am practicing the "politics of humor." Relax and join me. Humor is good for us all.

During this whole ordeal nobody has mentioned the fact that perhaps members of al qaeda are offended by being likened to Obama.
