Emporia High graduate Brandon Childs, competing for the Emporia Track Club, finished in a tie for second at the USATF National Club Championships in Olathe last Friday.
Childs cleared a personal record 6 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
The meet consisted primarily of collegiate and post-collegiate athletes.
Childs was the only high-school jumper in the field. He will attend Wichita State in the fall.
