It’s time again for the Lyon County Fair, and this year promises all the action and excitement of past years.
The Lyon County Fair officially opens at 6:30 p.m. Thursday with a Friends of the 4-H picnic. The picnic will be at the Anderson Building and is intended as an opportunity for 4-H to show appreciation to those who support Lyon County 4-H.

July 26
• 4-H judging for clothing construction, scrapbooks and photography, 10 a.m.
• 4-H judging, buymanship, home environment, fiber arts, 12:30 p.m.
• public fashion revue, Anderson Building, 5 p.m.
July 27
• 4-H horse show, Arena; 4-H cat and hand pets, Anderson Building, 9 a.m.
• shooting sports, 10 a.m.
• shooting sports, 1 p.m.
July 31
• wrist band night at the carnival, 6 to 10 p.m.
• pee-wee rodeo, grandstand, free gate, 6 p.m.
Aug. 1
• vet check-in, sheep and goats, 5 to 7 p.m.
• sheep/meat weigh-in, 7 p.m.
• swine weigh-in, 7:30 p.m.
• truck and tractor pull, grandstand, 7 p.m.
• beef weigh-in, 7 to 8 a.m.
• 4-H exhibits and open class exhibits entered in Anderson Building, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
• Anderson Building closed for judging, 9:30 a.m.
• 4-H foods, 9:30 a.m.
• antique tractor pull, free gate, 10 a.m.
• 4-H entomology, crops, geology judging, 10 a.m.
• horticulture and floriculture judging, 10 a.m.
• 4-H arts and crafts conference judging, 1 p.m.

mbb, the Lyon County Extension Office has forms and information on fair entries. I do know that photographs require mats. I hope you win.

you can pick up a fair book at the Lyon Co Extention Ofc located on w hwy 50. the fair book has all the information, rules, regulations for every type of entry (4-H and open class). i believe the fair book may be online at the lyon co extention website.
