JOHN AND JoAnn Tombes, who opened a new restaurant in Madison. The Tombeses left Las Vegas to open the Madison Main Street Café.
• Joyce Grove Hein, who is serving as the interim director of Newman Regional Health.
• Steve Brosemer, who was named to the board of the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius appointed Brosemer to the board.
• Becky Ziegler, who saved the life of Rowan Hoeme. Hoeme collapsed at Countrymart North and Ziegler gave him CPR.
• Elaine Henry, who purchased the magazine Ceramics: Art and Perceptions. On Sept. 1 she will take control of the quarterly art magazine.
• The K.T. Wiedemann Foundation, which gave a $50,000 gift to the William Allen White House. The money will be used to expand the sites’ school and outreach programs.
• Nash Burtin and Kyle Hale, who won first place in the folkstyle wrestling tournament at the Kansas State Sunflower State games.
