In its eighth year of existence, the Emporia State women’s soccer team will be adding another home.
The Hornets announced Tuesday that, for the first time ever, they will have an on-campus home game this season.
ESU’s home opener on Sept. 7 against Missouri S&T will be played on the pitch just north of the Student Recreation Building.
“This is a great opportunity for our student body to see our team and get to know them,” ESU coach Jim Schneiderhahn said.
The rest of ESU’s 10-game home schedule will be played at the TRYSA soccer complex. TRYSA has served as the playing field for all of the Hornets’ previous 63 home matches.
After starting the season with a pair of games in St. Joseph, Mo., ESU will return for five consecutive home matches.
Following a four-game home stretch in early October, the Hornets will play their final home contest on Oct. 26 against Central Missouri.
ESU has added eight new players to this year’s team after finishing 0-19-0 last season.
