Democrat picnic
The Lyon County Democratic committee will have its annual summer picnic from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday (July 20) at the Emporia Arts Council, 618 Mechanic St.
Meat and beverages will be provided. Participants are to bring side dishes or desserts. The picnic is free and open to the public. A special guest will be Linda Slattery, wife of Jim Slattery, candidate for the U.S. Senate. Those who wish to help sponsor the picnic can send a check for $75. Donations for state and local candidates also will be acceptable.
