Summer Food Program
The Emporia schools are closed for the summer. Here is the menu for the free summer food program:
BREAKFAST
Monday: Continental choice.
Tuesday: graham cookie.
Wednesday: Continental choice.
Thursday: Continental choice.
Friday: Continental choice.
LUNCH
Monday: hot dog on a bun, Spartan fries, broccoli florets and dip, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday: pizza, tossed salad, fruit choice, graham cookie.
Wednesday: turkey fritter, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot rolls, corn, peach half.
Thursday: crispitos, nacho chips, cheese sauce, tossed salad, fruit choice.
Friday: turkey and cheese sandwich, tater tots, baby carrots, pineapple.
Breakfast is served with juice and milk; lunch is served with milk.
Friendship Meals
Emporia
Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.
Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home delivery, call 340-8001.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: taco salad with cheese, lettuce, sliced tomato, corn chips, mandarin oranges.
Tuesday: spaghetti with meat sauce, Italian vegetables, Texas toast, fruit cup.
Wednesday: chicken-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, wheat roll, cake and ice cream.
Thursday: sloppy joe on a bun, pasta salad, pickled beets, scalloped apples.
Friday: sweet and spicy pork, rice, Caribbean-blend vegetables, wheat bread, rosy applesauce.
North Lyon County
Friendship meals are served at noon at: the Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414; Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.
Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.
These meals will be served next week.
Monday: Polish sausage on a bun, sauerkraut, pear-cheese salad, strawberry shortcake.
Tuesday: roast pork, scalloped potatoes, spinach, wheat roll, heavenly hash salad.
Wednesday: hamburger casserole, carrots, biscuits, four-fruit compote.
Thursday: roast turkey, candied sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, wheat bread, easy fruit dessert.
Friday: beef stew, mixed vegetables, muffins, citrus slices.
