TFI staffer to serve; agency receives grants
TFI Family Services has announced that one of its staff members, Martha Leek, is the new president-elect for the Kansas Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
She will spend this year focusing on membership recruitment and retention and chapter development, as well as working closely with the current president to prepare to take office on July 1, 2009.
Leek, who has worked with TFI, formerly known as The Farm, for 17 years, began as an office assistant and has held various positions within the agency. She is currently assistant to the chief executive officer and works as a liaison to the board of directors.
TFI also reported that the agency has learned that a grant has been continued to allow it to work with the division of Social and Rehabilitation Services to identify community resources and determine their utilization to resolve family crises and avoid removing children from the home.
The grant, part of the Family Assistance, Mentoring and Living (FAMLE) Project, will allow TFI to continue its work in Neosho, Allen, Woodson, Wilson, Montgomery and Cherokee counties and expand into Labette County.
Another SRS grant, HomeBase, has also been renewed for the 2008-2009 year. This grant allows TFI to continue services in Lyon, Coffey, Marion, Greenwood, Morris, Chase, Butler and Cowley counties. The funding allows therapists to work with families in their homes or within their environment and community.
Information about TFI is online at www.the-farm.org.
