Each Friday, The Gazette salutes those who make Emporia and the surrounding area a better place to live and work. Give these folks a pat on the back ...
ESU STUDENT Jessica Hopkins, who received the Making a Difference award from ESU. She received the award because of her campus and community involment.
• Shane Doudna, who received awards from Farm Bureau Financial Services for his work with the company.
• Emporia U-18 Energy softball team, which placed second out of 13 teams at the ASA State tournament.
• Westar Energy, which donated 50 fans to the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army will distribute the fans to those in need. The Salvation Army pantry is still in need of food.
