A pair of Emporia twosomes find themselves within seven shots of the lead after the first day of the Kansas Junior Team Championship at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course on Monday.
The team of Bren Fisher and Fletcher Harder shot a 69 to put themselves in a tie for ninth, while Eric Reimer and Matt McAnarney carded a 70 to end the first day in a tie for 12th.
The Junior Team Championship is a 36-hole event held over two days. The first day has a four-ball format, meaning both golfers play their own ball on each hole, with the team taking the lowest individual score.
Today, the format will switch to foursome stroke play — a format in which the two golfers on a team will alternate shots on the same ball.
The team of Chase Chamberlin (Lawrence) and Curtis Yonke (Overland Park) shot a 63 on Monday to take the Day One lead. Zach Sanders (Overland Park) and Jake Myron (Kansas City, Mo.) are in second place after firing a 65.
