Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
Tuesday
The Flint Hills Regional Quilt Guild meets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month at Presby West Campus, 1702 W. 15th Ave. A lesson will be given about “Quick Quilts.”
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday at Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe, 2144 W. Highway 50. The First Friday Feast (changed to July 11 because of July 4) is at 6 p.m. at KFC, 2613 Candlewood Drive. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.

Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. Jerry McCalla will present the program.
Friday
The Emporia Area Retired School Personnel meet at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. The program, “The Real Meaning of Freedom,” will be given by ESU international students. Tom and Ruth Fowler will be the greeters.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
