A job fair expected to be held next month has not yet been scheduled, according to an announcement from Jeanine McKenna, president and chief executive officer of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce.
McKenna said that there seems to be some confusion about whether the fair will be held this weekend or next. The fair actually has not been scheduled.
A decision should be made within the next several days and the job fair date will be announced by the Chamber.
In the interim, several companies from out of town and out of state have placed employment advertisements in The Gazette. One of them, Cargill, will meet with interested workers beginning Saturday. Hormel, John Morrell, Smithfield Beef Group and several trucking firms also are running similar ads.
