Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
The Reading Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Reading Community Building.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in January at the Wheat State Grill, 707 Commercial St. In February, the group will meet every Tuesday at KFC, 2613 Candlewood Drive. The First Friday Feast is at 6 p.m. at Bruff’s, 2640 W. 18th Ave. Information: Rufus Hobbs, (620) 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. Bill McCord will present the program.
The Emporia Model Railroad Club meets at 7:30 p.m. at 916 Arundel St. the last Thursday of each month. Those interested in model or prototype railroading are welcome to attend. Information: 343-8325.
Friday
The Emporia Area Retired School Personnel meets at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. The program, “Living with the Arts in Emporia,” will be given by Melissa Windsor, executive director of the Emporia Arts Council.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal of the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport.
P.E.O. Chapter GT meets at 10 a.m. at the Emporia Country Club for a business meeting and the President’s Letter. Emporia P.E.O. Council Activity, program and luncheon will be at 11 a.m.
P.E.O. Chapter HY meets at 11 a.m. at the Emporia Country Club for the Council Activity and luncheon.
